Last night we were really pleased to welcome Nate Southwood, marketing manager for Redwell Brewery to We Brought Beer. All the way from Norwich, Nate was on great form and gave us the full lowdown on Redwell, the beers as well loads of interesting nuggets about the beer scene in Norwich and beyond (Nate is a veteran of the beer blogging world!).

Beer wise we were treated to their flagship steam beer in can, a crisp California Common style, perfect for the warm summer evening. Next up was the White IPA, a beer that has the hazy pale appearance and texture of a wheat beer but the intense hoppiness of an IPA. The Imperial Steam followed, which, at 9% is pretty intense and boozy but dangerously drinkable as the assembled crowd discovered. The final beer of the night was extra special, a secret of the brewery that is not sold in bottles or kegs. Termed the White Tornado, it was discovered by accident when one of the brewers decided to try blending the White IPA and the Imperial Steam – the resulting beer is truly beautiful, complex and was a perfect way to round off the evening.

All in all Nate & Redwell put on a great evening and we’re grateful to them for coming down.

Our next Meet the Brewer is on 10th June with Orbit Brewery. To keep in the loop about future events in the shop, please subscribe to our newsletter on our website homepage and keep an eye on our twitter and facebook feeds.
