Last week we welcomed Tom and Chris from Brew by Numbers to We Brought Beer for the latest in our series of Meet the Brewer events. On the hottest day of the year, we had a packed full house with people spilling out of the shop in between beers for some fresh air!
Tom founded the company back in 2012 with his good friend Dave, having both been keen home-brewers. Based in Bermondsey, they have been at the forefront of the brewing scene there, and have received critical acclaim within the beer world as well as exporting their beer as far afield as Tokyo!
Tom and Chris gave us the full lowdown on how the brewery got started as well as the origins of the numbering system, a product of home-brew experimentation.
The beers tasted on the night were:
11/05 Session IPA
16/02 Red Ale
12/05 Barrel aged Tripel
The winner on the night was without doubt the 12/05 barrel aged Tripel, a beer that is complex and interesting as well as a tad challenging, but in a good way. All in all it was a great evening and we’re grateful to Tom & Chris for coming down to talk beer.
Below are some pictures from the night, taken by our resident photographer, the excellent Chris Coulson.
