A few huge arrivals this week, so first up, we’ll have a quick look at what’s coming over from California. Cigar City are a brewery we’re constantly asked about, but have never been able to get in until now! We have 5 of their cans, including the now legendary Jai Alai IPA and Invasion Pale Ale, as well as their Tampa Lager, Florida Cracker White Ale and Maduro Brown Ale. These guys really very rarely make appearances in the UK, so make sure to grab these cans whilst you can!
From up north, the always excellent Buxton Brewery have released their Ice Cream beer series in bottles for the first time that they brewed with their long-time collaborators, Omnipollo. On the lighter side, there’s the Original Ice Cream Pale and Lemon Meringue which flew out on keg last time we had it on. Moving towards the darker end of the spectrum, their hefty Texas Pecan Ice Cream Stout and Rocky Road Ice Cream Imperial Porter are both new to us, but ones we’ll certainly be opening the evening they arrive! These are incredibly limited, so we unfortunately have to limit them all to 1 bottle per person.
Heading East, we’ve got a couple of new can releases from Northern Monk, who seem to appearing on this list most weeks! this time we have the final part of their MMXVI Trilogy, YEAST. Brewed in collaboration with Cigar City (nothing from them in 2 years, and two beers come along in the same week!), this a 9.0% Belgian-style Tripel, brewed to showed off all the amazing characteristics of the yeast strain used. We’ve also got another brad new release from them which very few other breweries would dare to brew up – Peanutbutter & Jelly. This very much a Ronseal beer – it does what it says on the tin!
When they commissioned their canning line over a year ago, Magic Rock purchased the dooberywatsits to can 500ml “tallboys”. They’ve been so busy that they haven’t found time in the production schedule… until now! We’re super excited to have several cases of their first two 500ml releases. The first, Hypnotist, is their East Coast-style IPA they debuted to rave reviews at IndyManBeerCon. The second, Wayniac, is a collaboration they brewed with Cigar City (Cigar City were apparently inspired by London buses) which is another bold American-style IPA!
Finally, we’ve got a couple of new beers from two of our favourite London breweries. Orbit up in Walworth have released the 6th in their White Label series, and this time it’s a recreation of an old Burton Ale recipe. Brixton Brewery, meanwhile, have rebrewed a very awesome beer for the 3rd time for their 500th batch. Their Megawatt IIPA is an amped up version of their Electric IPA and, at the time this blog was published, is 3 days old – grab it whilst it’s fresh!
