For the second in our series of beer-led running routes we’re heading out to East London, an area packed with great beer and trails. Similar to Route 1, this route is a little under 10km and takes in a whopping 7 of our favourite places to drink beer in East London. If you’re travelling from other parts of London (or beyond) then start off at Hackney Downs station because we’re kicking off at the new home of Five Points Brewery, the Pembury Tavern, a fine beer pub if ever we saw one. From there, it’s a short jog down to The Experiment, the collaboration bar between Pressure Drop & Verdant. A half of pure juice will energise you for the run down to one of London’s finest beer pubs, The King’s Arms in Shoreditch, before jogging just up the road to Bethnal Green’s Mother Kelly’s bar. Get your breath back there because the next section of the route is the longest but most picturesque as we head through the beautiful Victoria Park, taking you through to Hackney Wick and the final 3 venues, all in spitting distance of each other. Start at Howling Hops Tank Bar, then grab a pizza and beer at Crate Brewery Tap before finishing up at the Beer Merchants Tap, at which stage you’ll also be keen to pop some bottles in your bag to take away.
